Red Cloud: Hip Hop Music Artist

Taking his name from the famous Native American Oglala Sioux chief, RedCloud's singular brand of hip-hop is part verbal assault, part comedy routine, part revival service. Born of Mexican and Indian heritage, RedCloud's unique background shines through on classic tracks like "When Kenpo Strikes,” which held a top 10 spot on TVU for several months. The video knocked the platinum recording artist P.O.D. out of the number 1 position.

RedCloud's music has turned up in film and television; "When Kenpo Strikes" was specifically written into the Michael Douglas/Kirk Douglas film 'It Runs In The Family'. Three of RedCloud's tracks are included in the new XBox 360 game "Amped 3."

RedCloud's brand new album "Hawthorne's Most Wanted" hits Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target this summer with an uncanny line up of smash hits and special guests including: Death Row recording artist "Kurupt" from the Dogg Pound and G-Unit's newest artist- "Jayo Felony.”

RedCloud has shared the stage with KRS One, Linkin Park, P.O.D., Atmosphere, Kurupt, Living Legends and many more.

Most importantly, RedCloud is an artist is bold and unashamed about his faith. More than just a phenomenally talented MC, he's a gifted communicator who captures the imagination of youth with his unparalleled skills and then uses this connection to deliver the truth of the Creator.

TESTIMONY

Everyone has something they are passionate about, and for me it has always been sports. I have always been very competitive, and when I was introduced to volleyball in the 7th grade I was hooked.

Yet as great as this passion was, I became even more passionate about something else during my sophomore year in college. During that time I developed a passion for knowing who God really is. I used to think God was a God of "do's" and "don'ts" but I learned that He is a God of love and He loves me unconditionally. He loves me so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to this earth so that I could have a relationship with Him. By committing my life to Christ, I know that I have been forgiven of my sins, have a personal relationship with Him, and will spend eternity with God.

My passion for sports has provided many great experiences. I have been privileged to compete for three national titles in college and professionally on the beach representing the US in the Olympic games. It has also taught me many valuable life lessons about integrity, hard work and perseverance. But my athletic experiences and lessons learned pale in comparison to my greatest passion, living a life committed to Jesus Christ.

My advice to you:

Stay away from comparing yourself to others. There is only one of you in this world and you were made with unique gifts and abilities. We can get so caught up in what others are doing, or what they have or how good they are at something and we totally miss celebrating the things about ourselves that are so special. You have something great to offer, to contribute, so go out there and do it.

Rulon Gardner: US Olympic Wrestling Gold Medallist

  • Greco-Roman Wrestler
  • Olympic Champion: gold medal (2000), bronze medal (2004),
  • World Wrestling Championship: gold medal (2001)

TESTIMONY

As a youth I had a learning disability and I struggled in education every day from kindergarten to college graduation. But with the great education programs in America and the strength of my family, I was able to become successful not just in education, but in sports.

Faith is an interesting thing because in order to believe, you must trust in something you can’t see or touch. You must simply believe. My faith has given me the strength to overcome adversity with my learning disability, the courage to conquer a legend in my sport and the will to live when "lost in the wilderness.”

America is the land of opportunity. We should take every opportunity to make it as great as it can be.

My advice to you:

Believe in your potential, because you can come from a very small town in America and make it to Olympic glory through hard work, determination and having many great people to help you along the way.
