TESTIMONY
When I played hockey, it was an important part of my life, but it came well
down the ladder in the food chain in terms of a lot of things in my life. I knew
that God had called me to a place of excellence. He wanted me to be the best that
I could possibly be. And that meant being an integral part of my team and doing
whatever I could to assist my club in winning.
I came to a place in my life when I was about 22 years of age where I realized
that the needless demands and pressures I was putting on myself were senseless.
When I knew that there was a God that had created the universe, that had created
me and He created a plan within which to live my life that had been laid out long
before I ever had a chance to live it. And these demands and these anxieties I
was putting myself through were senseless. It was at that time of my life that
I decided that I would put Christ back in the center of my life. And it was when
I started living out His plan, His intended plan for my life.
I think God really has found a place in my life and He reigns supreme in my
life. That's not to say the other things in my life aren't important. But I know
that when my life is right with God, when my relationship is right with God, my
role as a husband, my role as a hockey player. . . All these things fall into
place when I know he and I are on the same wave length. So that's really been
the difference in my life. And it's been an important change. It's easily the
most important decision.
My advice to you:
Know that your integrity is among your greatest assets. Your ability to conduct
yourself in a manner that reflects well on you will also reflect well on God.
Every word, act, and thought is a testament to God and also to the wonder of His
creation- YOU!! So take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ so that
you may live a life pleasing to Him and in that you'll experience all that He
desires for you.
